Where did spring go?

Spring came, stayed for four days and went again. Back to rain, rain, rain, go away rain come again another day!

And windy, and cold!

Looking out into my bedraggled and un-springlike garden.

Maybe I shouldn't have painted my toes black, maybe I put a hex on spring! A pretty pink might have been more the go I am thinking!

We had a busy weekend, a big family dinner here on Saturday night to celebrate Babes birthday, his Dad's birthday and Fathers Day which was yesterday.

We had our usual strange mix of family members here, Babes and I (the strangest!), Babes grandparents who live across the road, my Mum who lives around the corner, Babes Aunt and Uncle and Babes Dad, ex son-in-law to the grandparents across the road. We had heaps of fun!

I set the table with a blue theme, blue being Babes and Babes Dad's favourite colour. They didn't realise it but I had tied the napkins up with blue ribbon that said "it's a boy"!!!!

It looked lovely with the candles lit and lights dimmed and I had other candles and tea lights burning all around the room.

Dinner was simple, spinach lasagna, big leafy green salad and nice bread. Dessert was chocolate birthday cake and cream.

Yesterday it was still spring, after cooking brunch for the two men I got stuck into my top garden, garden being a very loose term for it at the moment. I was going to finish weeding today and plant lots of 'spring' but alas . . .

Oh well, off to change my toe colour . . .

bye for now

Well at least last weekend for one whole day I was able to get into my front garden and do some much needed weeding. We've had more rain too *sigh* my poor geraniums are getting rained out. btw I don't think it would've mattered what colour you did your toenails, I did mine blue last week and it still rained *sigh*

Hi Rachael,
You must be getting the rain that just pasted through here. Although we really needed it, about 5kms up the road from us it was flood they got approx 100mm in one day not sure how much we got but we weren't flooded. Hopefully you will get some more lovely Spring weather soon.
Cheers Linda

Sounds like you had a great weekend. Love your toe tat! No that's not the sick bubba. The sick one is not directly related to me. Thanks for asking though!

Hi Rachael,
It's Becky from One Shabby old house. The window doesn't have boards behind it. But it does have small rods for added strength.
Thanks for asking.
It looks like you had a lovely dinner. Special touches everywhere.

Spring will arrive. And day now, I bet the sun will start shining for you.

Wouldn't that be too funny if painting your toenails black really did make it rain and pink really made the sun shine? You could become the local weather woman :)

Spring? you are having spring? *huge sigh*. where do you live? I love spring and summer and we're almost at fall and I don't like that.

I look forward to seeing your pink toes and the sun shining for you this spring. :o)

I'm glad you had a nice get together and your table looks so pretty.

Hope you are enjoying better weather today.

Well it all looks fun and lovely to me....keep the toe nail color too I've seen many with that color on and it's cute....not on me but on others. HA!
I could use some "Spring" right about now too......no..wait a minute.....never mind.....that would mean we would have to go backward and I'd have to do this "hurricane season" again...and the whole Gustave thing..and I'm not up for that. We now only have a few months left of it....Fall should be on it's way too....at some point. It's still VERY hot where we are....and humid. HA! So I just want to get THROUGH it at this point.

Thanks for your comments and concern!! I really did/do appreciate it. It's so neat to know that someone way off across the world is wondering about you during a disaster. VERY COOL!

Your blog is so fun......I'm learning lots of things about life where you are!
Keep up the good work Rachel!
Talk to you later......I am SOOO behind and have a million things to do and people to write.
My crazy life. HA!

Happy Birthday to your "Babes!!!"
See ya,
Joyce

Hi Rachael,

Oh, I'm so happy your book arrived safely! I'm hoping you get some sun soon! Nothing worse than a rainy, rainy spring when you're set to see a bit of sun! Have a wonderful day,

Ahhhh...so it was Rachel all the way over in NZ that made Spring go away...you naughty girl you. Take off that black nail polish immediately!! LOL

I prefer pink anyway. Here's hoping your new nail colour will improve the weather in Melbourne.
Hugs,
Kerryanne

Yes, it's very rainy and chilly here in the Midwest as we are approaching Autumn. I do wish I could flipflop the world and have Spring instead. But everything has a season, right?! Have a wonderful new week. Blessings... Polly
